Hope 4 Me at Bournemouth YMCA
Hope 4 Me is a programme for people
living at the YMCA and other local hostels to learn radio
production skills and create their own radio show. Participants
attend a team building residential and work with a Radio production
technician to learn interviewing and editing skills. The Hope 4 Me
team get out in the community to build social skills, raise
community awareness and make radio programmes based on their own
interests. The radio programmes will all be broadcast on Hope FM
community radio station. Participants are offered volunteering
opportunities at the end of their time at Hope 4 Me within the
radio station and as mentors for newcomers to the project. We
have already seen improvements in self esteem and confidence and
are looking forward to hearing the radio programmes!
